Horsebridge/COLT
COLT approached Horsebridge in order to find a cost effective solution to globally manage their network synchronisation equipment under a single management platform. The remit was to bring legacy, unmanaged and managed equipment under one Element Manager. As COLT's networks are growing throughout Europe our proposal had to be capable of supporting future network synchronisation equipment deployments. In addition it was imperative that the solution demonstrate real benefits in reduction of engineering costs and maximising network synchronisation availability. The SyncSpy platform is based upon the Espy generic element management platform and offers an equipment vendor independent, element management system. The unique server architecture provides incredible functional flexibility whilst supporting high availability, manned or unmanned operation. The intuitive user environment is backed by a security subsystem that provides simple yet secure equipment management. The SyncSpy platform is also fully scalable from tens of managed elements to tens of thousands. The system support also provides users with protection for servers for the maximum system availability.
SyncSpy is now providing COLT with 24/7 network viability across Europe. The solution has already produced the following results.
- Improved reliability of both new and existing network equipment.
- Over 30 hardware failures have been detected and diagnosed remotely.
- Large reductions in engineer costs lessoning the demands on operational expenditure.
- Extension of existing equipment lifecycle by a minimum of ten years resulting in reduced capitol expenditure
- Improvement in the quality of service provided to customers
