ETT/TANDBERG TV
Every day, Tandberg Television delivers products, systems, and services to the world's major broadcasters, cable TV companies, network operators, telecoms and convergence players -- solutions which enable these companies to compete more effectively in ever more crowded marketplaces.
In order both to continue to deliver the highest-quality solutions and to remain at the vanguard of the industry, Tandberg Television needs to operate as efficiently as possible.
According to Lindsay Morgan, Tandberg Television's IS service delivery manager, ETT's technologies and data services are key to achieving this successfully.
"We began working with ETT in 1998 and have never looked back," he explains. "One of the first projects we partnered on was a remote access solution for field-based staff. We chose ETT, based on the quality of its support, its proven track-record and its time to market for the solution."
This project was followed by further implementations. "We were looking at fixed services -- including a link between Tandberg Television in the UK and Norway. Here, ETT was half the price of the competing solutions and it had the support to underpin it. Nine times out of ten, ETT is a more cost-effective network solution than the competition. Factor in the quality of support and it has a compelling business case."
From these initial deployments, a mutually rewarding relationship has flourished between the two companies. Today, Tandberg Television relies on ETT to source, provide and maintain its entire global fixed-link network across the Americas, Asia and Europe.
A dedicated ETT account manager, acting as a single point of contact, alleviates the headache of dealing with multiple vendors. Working closely with the rest of the ETT team, she sources core connectivity and services from different operators and hardware vendors at optimum prices.
This highly effective project management, service provisioning and quality of service is backed by stringent Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ETT's 24x7x365 multi-lingual Network Operations Centre (NOC). The NOC is equipped with sophisticated service management and network monitoring tools that ensure Tandberg Television's connectivity is managed using a single service point.
Another benefit of ETT's service is its cost-effectiveness. During the first two years of the relationship, Tandberg Television saved £2,500 per month when it switched its international services to ETT. Later, when Tandberg Television moved four circuits over to ETT over a period of 18 months, the company saved £54,000 annually in reduced rental charges and lower maintenance costs.
According to Morgan: "By standardising on ETT network technologies and support, we have been able to reduce our spend by around 50 per cent, and our operational efficiency has also increased."
