Event preview - TeleManagement World Americas

European Communications looks at what’s on offer at this year’s TeleManagement World event for the Americas in Dallas, Texas

The telecom market is in a massive transition with services expanding while companies are consolidating. In the midst of all this change and disruption, management and operations cannot miss a beat. TeleManagement World aims to bring together noted business and technical leaders from both service providers and their suppliers to discuss and debate the issues, challenges and solutions facing the management of next generation networks and services.
According to event organiser, the TeleManagement Forum, these have to be some of the most exciting yet challenging times in the communications industry.  Competition is coming from every direction as the telecoms, cable, information and entertainment industries collide. Everyone is trying to gain the upper hand in terms of market share; customers are demanding more innovative services, faster and for less money; and shareholders want to see serious business transformation taking place. This year’s TeleManagement World event for the Americas, which runs in Dallas, Texas on December 4 – 7, aims to address the complex and manifold issues which these various demands place on the operational and business function.
This year‘s event, whose theme is reflected in the title Managing for Profitability in a Dynamic Market, features a series of Summits that act as ‘conferences-within a conference.’ Each is designed to provide specific individuals with the precise information they need to succeed, from experts they respect.
The Executive Summit, whose target audience includes C-level executives and senior decision makers, entails a series of executive roundtables, facilitated interactive discussions and expert presentations on: Tackling Large Scale IT Transformation: Managing Extended Value Chains: Making Partnerships Work: Driving Value From Consolidation: Creating Revenue From New Services: Becoming a Lean, 21st Century Operator MasterClass.
The Service Innovation and Market Development Summit, aimed at strategists, service developers, billing managers, product managers, service managers, and sales and marketing executives, covers: Managing the Service Innovation Boom: Leveraging IMS: Portfolio & Product Line Management: Telecom/Multi-Media Convergence: IPTV & Mobile TV: Managing End User Networks and Devices.
The Customers, Billing and Monetisation Summit, aimed at a similar audience to the above summit, covers: Managing and Measuring Customer Intimacy: Using Business Intelligence to Drive Revenue and Market Share: Merchandising new Services: Service Retailing: Convergent Billing: Revenue Assurance.
Additional summits at TMW will cover such areas as Converged Operations; and Software and Systems.
In the main conference sessions, the TMF has lined up a number of impressive keynote speakers to set the tone for the event, including Keith Cambron, President and CEO for AT&T Labs, best known for his expertise in the areas of switching, call processing, line and trunk signaling, SS7, VF and RF transmission, system testing, telco operations and traffic engineering, network reliability and performance analysis.
Alongside Cambron, delegates will also hear from Eugene Roman, Group President, Systems and Technology, Bell Canada, and Ezra Kucharz, Senior Vice President, Digital Innovation, NBC Universal. Roman leads the effort to enable breakthroughs in productivity and performance, and deliver current and next generation services more efficiently by harnessing the power of Bell's network, while Kucharz is responsible for leading NBC Universal’s Digital Media Incubator, examining the creation, innovation and implementation of new content applications as well as business and usage models for the consumption of media and entertainment.
In addition, the TeleManagement World well established Catalyst Showcases will demonstrate the work of the Catalyst program, the TMF’s proving ground for pragmatic solutions, enabling service providers, system integrators, and hardware/software vendors to work together to solve common, critical industry challenges.

TeleManagement World Americas will be held on December 4-7, 2006 at the Adams Mark Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.
