Telmex has chosen Alcatel-Lucent to help with its bid to provide more homes across Mexico with access to super high-speed internet services.
Alcatel-Lucent will supply Telmex with a wide range of solutions, including the latest generation of VDSL2 broadband access technology and GPON, as it looks to put a network in place to ensure millions of homes have access to broadband.
The project to expand VDSL2 and fibre-optic network coverage was launched amid growing demand for connectivity across the country, as more people expect quicker access while surfing the internet.
Details of the project were announced by Pierre Chaume, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent in Mexico, who hailed a "long-term and very successful" relationship with Telmex.
Mr Chaume added: "With our advanced broadband access technologies, the new network will allow Telmex to reliably move huge amounts of traffic and multimedia content to remote areas, with better quality signals, ultra high speeds of up to 100 megabits per second per subscriber, and substantial savings in maintenance costs."
