BT launches UK's first FTTP installation

Britain's first fibre to the premises (FTTP) broadband service has been installed by BT Business, the firm has revealed.

The super-fast FTTP connection has been fitted at multiple office units at Milton Keynes' AcornHouse, a facility owned by the MK Community Foundation.

A spokesperson for BT Business called the new installation a "real milestone", saying the super-fast connection can help firms to cut their spending and make their operations more efficient.

FTTP can deliver download speeds of up to 100Mbps and 15Mbps in upload speeds, allowing companies and organisations to harness technologies such as video conferencing while boosting their speed of delivery when handling large files.

Lisa Ravenscroft, head of fibre broadband and value added services at BT Business, said: "We are at the forefront of the fibre revolution for businesses in the UK and this is a real milestone in being able to provide the best technology to all types of customer.

"Fibre to the premises offers super-fast speed for both uploading and downloading."
