Digia has announced the acquisition of Qt software technologies and the Qt business from Nokia.
The acquisition follows the March 2011 move to secure the Qt Commercial licensing business from Nokia.
The Finnish software solutions firm is now responsible for all the Qt activities formerly carried out by Nokia, including commercial and open source licensing activities and product development.
The firm said it now aims to strengthen Qt's research and development capabilities and expand its reach on more platforms, with plans in place to quickly enable Qt on the Android, iOS and Windows 8 platforms.
Digia's senior vice-president for international products, Tommi Laitinen, said of the deal: "We are looking forward to welcoming the Qt team to Digia.
"By adding this world class organisation to our existing team, we plan to build the next generation leading cross-platform development environment. Now is a good time for everyone to revisit their perception of Qt."
