Ericsson has announced the acquisition of Canadian software solutions company ConceptWave as it looks to consolidate its OSS/BSS offering.
ConceptWave provides customer, product, and order lifecycle management solutions to operators globally, including Belgacom, Portugal Telecom and Swisscom.
Specifically, Ericsson said the deal would strengthen its OSS/BSS portfolio by better supporting operators in the areas of order management and product catalogue.
Elizabeth Romano, Ericsson’s Head of OSS in Business Unit Support Solutions, added that the trend towards personalised services requires operators to be able to offer flexible product bundles with customised pricing packages.
“In this area ConceptWave’s solutions and employees’ expertise adds considerable value to Ericsson’s portfolio,” she said.
The deal adds to Ericsson’s purchase of Telecordia, completed in January.
The operator announced a new strategic focus in February, with the goal of enhancing its position in the OSS/BSS market through key competencies in charging and billing, service fulfillment, assurance, network optimisation and real-time charging.
