Azure Fraud Control System version 3.5 launched

New product to deliver greater efficiency to fraud detection

Azure Solutions, the revenue-assurance company, has today announced the launch of the Azure Fraud Control System (AFCS) version 3.5, which is aimed at helping combat problem of telecoms fraud.

AFCS version 3.5 is the latest version of Azure's fraud-detection system and bureau service, which enables telecoms operators to detect fraud across their network effectively and efficiently.  AFCS uses intelligent and unique  detection technology, and accepts multiple data feeds to allow all types of product or service to be monitored (fixed, mobile, interconnect, IP etc).

A new core addition to AFCS version 3.5 is the Exceptions Handler module, which will enable operators to manage customers with exceptional but legitimate call usage even more effectively than before.  Exceptions Handler will help customers to reduce the number of false alarms that may otherwise be generated, which in turn will reduce the load on case management systems and free up operational resource.  Previously, fraud analysts may have removed customers with such unusual call patterns entirely from monitoring, which created a risk that other fraud was missed.

Exceptions Handler utilises a query rules engine, which allows operators to set very specific rule sets and thresholds on individual lines.  A notification option via e-mail or SMS can now alert the operator or the customer directly whenever these parameters are breached. The new module complements the existing functionality of AFCS, which enables operators to:

· flexibly configure, control and define fraud-detection rules
· intelligently detect anomalous and unusual behaviour
· identify fraudsters and criminal activity through event fingerprinting
· monitor SMS and IP content to provide fraud detection for e-commerce and next-generation technologies
·  improve efficiency and effectiveness of fraud-detection teams through comprehensive case management workflow and report generation
·  enhance their visualisation capabilities allowing for ease of identification of fraud issues

Saul Nurtman, senior vice-president of products at Azure Solutions, said: "Fraud is an ongoing problem for telecoms operators and being able to detect it quickly and correctly is a key requirement. AFCS version 3.5 will enable fraud-detection teams to be more efficient and allow operators to deliver a more customer-centric service."
