LHS reports outstanding benchmark results for its fully convergent billing and customer care system BSCS iX on HP Integrity Superdome servers

BSCS iX demonstrates breakthrough performance of 1 million invoices per hour

LHS, a leading provider of telecommunications and billing software, has announced that it has carried out performance testing on HP Integrity Superdome servers for it’s billing solution, BSCS iX.

The benchmarking test saw BSCS iX successfully scaling to support tier-one service providers with more than 40 million subscribers on a single instance of HP Integrity Superdome.

BSCS iX managed to generate more than 1 million invoices per hour, meaning that 40 million subscribers can be invoiced in one working week.  The performance test was run in a production-like environment with sophisticated tariff models and promotional offers for residential customers and hierarchical business accounts, comprising friends and family discounts and free units.

New features of BSCS iX such as best option planning, and applying the best tariff depending on the customer’s usage scenario were also included. The benchmark included all individual modules from collection of events from the network to rating, billing and accounting, and demonstrated unprecedented performance, both in batch and real-time mode.

“Supporting the complete rating and billing chain for 40 million subscribers on a single instance of HP Integrity Superdome not only proved exceptional vertical scalability but also emphasized the efficiency of BSCS iX architecture,” said Dr. Jens Troetscher, Chief Technology Officer at LHS. ”BSCS iX on the HP Integrity Superdome platform is a high-performance solution for communication service providers, ready to support future volume increases.”

“The results of this benchmark demonstrate that the powerful combination of LHS’ BSCS iX running on HP Integrity Superdome servers offer customers a tier-one, carrier-grade solution,” noted Don Jenkins, Vice President of Marketing, Business Critical Servers, HP. “We are pleased to see further affirmation that the HP Integrity platform provides the reliability and flexible capacity businesses need to tackle their most demanding workloads.”
