Siemens to handle complete spare parts management for the Ukrainian mobile operator UMC
The Ukrainian mobile operator Ukrainian Mobile Communications (UMC) is putting its trust in Siemens Communications for spare parts logistics and management. The agreement covers the management of UMC’s entire logistics chain, including repairs, inventory management, transport, process optimization and inventory planning and sizing. The three-year agreement has a volume of over 25 million euros.
Entrusting its spare parts logistics and process responsibility to Siemens Communications will help UMC increase the stability of its network and reduce downtimes. The tailored logistics processes allowing the provision of spare parts on demand and will help to reduce investments in spare parts. Optimizing inventory levels making it possible to cut logistics costs.
"Thanks to the agreement with Siemens, we are able to focus on our core business. We can also cut our capital and operating expenditures by some 20 percent”, explained Jeff Howley, Acting Technical Director of UMC.
"With UMC we have a successful partnership for a long time. We are delighted to expand this with a contract for carrier services”, said Daniel-Rui Felicio, President of Carrier Service at Siemens Communications. "With our spare pool management service, we are able to meet the growing needs of mobile operators around the world.”
