Sicap opens Moscow office, responds to demand in Russian mobile market
Swiss mobile applications provider cements strategic ties in Russia with new local office
Sicap, a leading provider of software solutions for mobile operators, announced the opening of its new local headquarters in Moscow. The regional office opening strengthens the company's presence in the buoyant Central and Eastern European market and reinforces its commitment to its customers in the region, including Vimpelcom, Russia's fastest growing operator.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Sicap has always maintained a close relationship with Russian and Central and Eastern European operators and the company is now poised to further expand into this market.
As a result of its working relationship with Vimpelcom, Sicap has been successfully active in the Russian market since 2003. Sicap's USSD Menu Browser solution enabled Vimpelcom to provide subscribers greater access to value added services and increase revenues. With approximately 140 million mobile subscribers, and 90% of Moscow mobile licences taken, the Russian market is maturing. The booming mobile market has mainly been driven by growth in Moscow, with penetration outside the capital still relatively low, leaving significant opportunity for operators to capitalise (source: Informa).
Simon Hofer, General Manager Eastern Europe for Sicap, says: "Our fully operational subsidiary in Moscow will facilitate further penetration into the exciting Russian market and allow us to better serve our customers and partners. Mobile penetration in Russia has increased dramatically in the last two years and operators are seeking to continue this trend. We are also seeing an ever increasing demand for sophisticated mobile technology and infrastructure in the region."
