NMS Communications and LogicaCMG Supply Ringback Tone Service to Vodafone
Traditional Ringback Tone Makes Way for Music
NMS Communications and LogicaCMG have today announcedthat Vodafone Netherlands is the first telecom provider in theNetherlands to introduce its customers to ringback tones. This newservice, introduced by Vodafone Netherlands as Welcome Tunes, offersmobile subscribers the opportunity to replace the usual ringback tonewith a wide variety of music, ranging from pop, rock, standards,dance, etc., to the latest Top 40 hits or a sound clip. Traditionally, a caller hears the standard ringback tone beforethe receiver is picked up at the other end, but in the future, whencallers get through to a Vodafone Netherlands subscriber, they're morelikely to hear music or a sound clip. What the caller hears depends ontheir personal ringback tone profile previously set by the subscriber.The service allows subscribers to set their choice of tone dependingon who is calling, and when. On the basis of the caller's profile, thecorrect tune is played. Subscribers can determine settings themselvesvia WAP or the Web. Vodafone Netherlands' ringback tone service is based onMyCaller (www.nmscommunications.com/MyCaller), the personalizedmobile entertainment platform from NMS Communications. LogicaCMG isresponsible for the implementation and maintenance of the solution.
