Telenor extends deployment of Comptel's network inventory to fixed and broadband services
New network inventory project deepens existing relationship with Comptel
Comptel, the Operational Support System (OSS) software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, has announced that Telenor of Norway is extending its use of Comptel's network inventory solution to consolidate information about their logical and physical networks. By combining this information, Telenor will realise savings through rationalisation of IT systems and improved processes supported by better data-accuracy, says Comptel.
This new project cements the long standing relationship between Telenor and Comptel. Telenor has been relying for a number of years on Comptel's network inventory to document its physical network, covering amongst others ducts, cables, masts, and manholes. Comptel's inventory is used to support key business processes such as network planning. Now, Telenor plans to add data about its logical network, covering PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) and broadband services to residential and business customers in Norway. In addition, Telenor will deploy Comptel's reconciliation module to synchronise the inventory with other key legacy systems which form part of the provisioning workflow.
Mr. Harri Palviainen, Senior Vice President of Network Inventory Business of Comptel Corporation concludes: "We are delighted that Telenor has decided to extend its relationship with Comptel. This is a significant deal for Comptel and a major project for our Network Inventory business. Operators never undertake extensive network inventory projects lightly, so we are pleased that Telenor has given Comptel a vote of confidence."
