AVEA migrated 2 million subscribers to LHS' BSCS in four months

Turkish mobile operators merged and use BSCS to support roll-out

LHS has announced that Turk Telekom & Telecom Italia Mobile (TT TIM) migrated 2 million subscribers to LHS' BSCS to consolidate their billing systems. TurkTelekom & Telecom Italia Mobile (AVEA) was formed by the merger of the Turkish operators Aria and Aycell. Aria installed BSCS in 2001 to run rating and billing for its subscribers. When Aria and Aycell merged to form AVEA it was decided that all Aycell subscribers would be migrated to LHS' BSCS, replacing an old legacy system in order to have one single billing system.

AVEA opted for LHS' BSCS as the strategic billing platform due to the distinctive rating and charging capabilities, enabling AVEA to offer new services to its entire customer base. This will allow better customer service, thus increasing customer loyalty. Aycell's customer base, consisting of about 2 million subscribers, migrated to BSCS 6.0 within just four months. Now every AVEA subscriber's mobile phone bill is running from one rating engine, and customer loyalty schemes and tariffs can be standardised across both Aria and Aycell customer bases.

"LHS' BSCS was our billing system of choice as it had already proven its flexibility and reliability for Aria. It enabled us to consolidate our subscriber base in a short time frame", comments Antonino Ruggiero, chief technology officer at AVEA. "Additionally its flexible rating and billing capabilities will allow us to roll out our 3G services next year."

Stefan Sieber, chief sales officer at LHS adds, "Smooth implementation is crucial in order to keep the individual brands intact as well as to retain long-standing, loyal customers. Therefore, the openness of BSCS, allowing easy migration, was essential to enable the seamless integration of two separate billing systems to maintain customer confidence and keep operating costs down."
