The new TTY Test Solution – CMU200 from 7 layers

The TTY Test Solution - CMU200 from 7 layers, has been officially approved by the North American PTCRB (PCS Type Certification Board) during the last PTCRB Meeting#54 in Newport Beach beginning of this month.

TTY (Teletypewriter) is a telecommunications feature for hearing and speech impaired people. Wireless service providers have upgraded their digital networks to be compatible to TTY. This way hearing and speech impaired people are able to use TTY compatible wireless phones and take advantage of mobile services, including 911 calls. Verifying the correct implementation of TTY on wireless phones including the TTY signaling support and the TTY transmission performance can be a complex and time consuming process.

The TTY Test Solution - CMU200 provides a reliable, highly automated and easy to handle test solution using Rohde & Schwarz instruments including the CMU200 as well as software tools and TTY test case packages from 7 layers. "This new test solution will soon provide TTY Test Case coverage for three technologies - GSM, W-CDMA and CDMA2000 in just one single test platform. It is therefore suitable for a variety of test requirements and laboratories", explains Tom Wellner, Product Manger of 7 layers in Irvine. "Its automation capabilities and reliability combined with a number of test case packages for various test demands makes the new TTY Test Solution - CMU200 an interesting tool both for R&D and certification purposes. We feel that the market will simply love this new solution and are very proud to be able to provide such a valuable tool to the industry."

The test case package for W-CDMA is the first commercially available and validated package, with others to follow early 2009. It currently includes 8 test cases for the FDD2 frequency band. With the upcoming release of PTCRB's NAPRD.03 test case document version 4.3 these tests will become mandatory to be performed for mobile phones claiming W-CDMA TTY support.

7 layers has long experience with TTY testing, due to the development of earlier TTY test solutions and to the TTY test services provided in its own certification test laboratories. This makes us the experts to turn to when you are looking for professional advice regarding TTY testing processes and TTY certification. http://www.7layers.com/test-solutions-TTY-test-solution-CMU200.html
