Intec wins $15 million Singl.eView billing contract with MTN, Africa

New billing system will support over 7.7 million pre- and post-paid subscribersin South Africa

Intec Telecom Systems, a leading OSS software vendor for fixed, mobile and next-generation networks, has signed a contract worth around $15 million with South Africa-based MTN, for a new customer billing system using Intec’s Singl.eView software. The new system will handle billing for MTN’s South Africa operation, which has over 7.7 million pre- and post-paidsubscribers.

“Winning a prestigious, tier one wireless operator like MTN in a verycompetitive market is great news for Intec, because it underlines our status asa major player in the OSS/BSS market globally,” said Intec CEO Kevin Adams.“Singl.eView’s next-generation technology is a strong fit for a fast-growingmajor operator in a developing market, because it allows it to bring newservices quickly to market, and its performance and scalability fits well withgrowth plans and cost-effective operations.

“I’m personally delighted that our first major new Singl.eView customer is MTN,”added Intec’s South Africa born Executive Chairman, Mike Frayne. “Intec hasalways been successful in Africa, but this is a high profile win that confirmsSingl.eView as the right solution for the billing upgrade, legacy replacementand consolidation projects that many operators worldwide are now beginning.

“This is a key project for MTN that will support our very high growth rates,provide a superior customer billing experience, and reduce our cost oftechnology ownership,” said MTN SA’s Billing Programme Director, Megan Ashman.“We chose Singl.eView as our new strategic billing platform for its outstandingtechnology and as a result of Intec’s long-term presence, commitment andinvestment in Africa.”

MTN and Intec have started work immediately on the implementation ofSingl.eView, with Intec providing support and services through its substantialSouth Africa office.
