Portal 7 opens the door to increased profitability for leading communications companies

Portal Software delivers real-time revenue management capabilities to expanding base of international customers

Portal Software, the premier global provider of billing and Revenue Management solutions, today announced that several leading communications companies are implementing Portal 7 to increase their responsiveness to customer needs, maximize profitability, and deliver on the promise of network convergence. Portal 7, publicly introduced this February, is a single platform that enables service providers to manage revenue on any type of network: real-time IP and circuit-switched, fixed and mobile, voice and data.

SaskTel and Vodafone Spain are among over a dozen Portal customers that have selected the Portal 7 platform to accelerate time to market for new services, quickly capitalize on emerging market opportunities, and improve the overall quality of their customer relationships.

A Portal customer since 1999, SaskTel has delivered first-rate telecommunications to the people of Saskatchewan for more than 90 years and now serves more than 425,000 business and residential customers. SaskTel is the leading full service communications company in its service area and provides a full range of communication services - voice, data, and image - over a digital, fiber optic-based network. The Portal solution supports high-speed Internet access and value-added services over broadband, including content and digital television.

SaskTel decided to upgrade to Portal 7 to gain additional insight into customer preferences, optimize service profitability, and provide more flexibility in its payment plans and service bundles. The company is utilizing Portal 7 to provide comprehensive Revenue Management solutions for its broadband services, including high speed Internet access and digital television.

"The evolution of Portal's billing and Revenue Management platform is very much in line with our changing business needs," said Trevor McDonald, business solutions manager at SaskTel. "Portal 7 offers a host of features that will allow SaskTel to deliver robust, quicker to market solutions."

With more than 10 million customers, Vodafone Spain is a leading wireless service provider in Spain. In order to improve business performance while meeting customer demand for new voice and content services, Vodafone Spain selected Portal 7 as its Revenue Management platform. The primary reasons for Vodafone Spain's decision to implement Portal 7 were its need to reduce time to market for new services, decrease the amount of re-engineering required to update billing processes for new services, and prepare for its planned convergence of GSM, GPRS, and UMTS platforms.

The Portal 7 platform integrates and optimizes every stage of the Revenue Management lifecycle: revenue generation, capture, collection, and analysis. With Portal 7, service and content providers are able to deliver services that are optimally priced for their businesses, customers, and partners. Portal 7 ensures all transactions are captured, rated, discounted, and charged, and that bills are generated accurately and revenues collected.

"Portal 7 gives our customers the ability to more effectively respond to customer demands while ensuring that billing complexity does not stand in the way of service creation and delivery or customer satisfaction," said Dave Labuda, president and CEO of Portal Software. "We see the fact that so many of our customers are implementing Portal 7 as a tremendous validation of the need for a platform approach to Revenue Management."
