Nimbus Systems urges operators and content providers to 'cultivate' relationships

Mobile Billing and payments innovator to speak at World Telemedia 2005

Tom Uhart, managing partner at Nimbus Systems, the billing software and mobile payments company, will highlight the need for global operators to focus on cultivating relationships with content providers in a presentation to delegates at this year’s World Telemedia Expo and Conference.

On Wednesday 20 April, Uhart will address an audience on the theme of ‘Settling Mobile Content Profitably’. During his speech, he will advise on the shift in the balance of power between operators and content providers.

Uhart believes that quality of content is king, and that as standards emerge content providers will also need more sophisticated settlement capabilities to reconcile with operators. He comments:

“Historically, content providers have needed to rely upon operators’ billing systems to reconcile revenue share agreements. I do not believe this to be sustainable in the medium term – emerging content reconciliation standards will place operators and providers on a more equal footing. This will, in turn, enable content providers and aggregators to calculate and bill their own revenue-shares.

“The growth in mobile content creates a win-win situation for content providers and operators alike. Each must ensure that they continue to cultivate the relationships they already developed, and operate using best-of-breed billing technology.”

Nimbus Systems announced its expansion into northern Europe in January this year. The company offers billing, settlement, mobile payment and business intelligence solutions to the telecommunications, financial services and utilities markets.

Customers include Amena (Spain’s third largest GSM mobile operator), Vodafone Spain and First Data, the world’s leading transaction credit and loyalty card infrastructure company.
