Telstra Europe launches Dedicated Access Express - high-performance, low-cost connectivity across the UK

Telstra provides uncontended WAN service with service level agreements

Telstra Europe, a leading provider of voice and internet services has announced the nationwide rollout of its Dedicated Access Express service.

This new connectivity offers businesses a step up from DSL, providing an uncontended, high-speed, high-performance solution for companies who want ‘always-on’ dedicated internet access, supported by industry-leading Service Level Agreements.

Telstra Europe is the first company to offer such a service across several parts of the UK, extending its reach well beyond its existing Point-of-Presence (PoP) network and beating traditional providers to many rural areas.

The service is delivered using resilient and proven Frame Relay technology which means that, unlike traditional DSL access products, it doesn’t suffer from adverse performance or contention issues, which so regularly plague small and medium-sized businesses.

Dedicated Access Express service will provide businesses with a range of attractive benefits, including:

* Guaranteed, uncontended connectivity
* UK-wide availability even in areas where ADSL or SDSL are not accessible
* Superior performance for mission-critical applications such as customer support, document management, research, intranets and VPNs
* Total network transparency with management tools including sophisticated monitoring and billing systems
* A fully managed solution including security, back-up and data storage solutions

In addition to the high performance connectivity, firms will benefit from the secure separation that comes with Frame Relay, ensuring the connection’s security across the entire Telstra Europe network.

David Thorn, CEO of Telstra Europe, says: “For towns and areas not currently serviced by DSL, this product will offer enterprise level solutions at a fixed price. We don’t believe that business users should be penalised based on geography. Dedicated Access Express will allow businesses across the UK to avoid the time waste and productivity drop that comes as a result of sharing connectivity with ‘bandwidth bullies’.”

The addition of Dedicated Access Express forms part of Telstra Europe’s ongoing objective to provide seamless voice and data services to businesses across the UK.

Thorn continues: “A fundamental element of our business objective at Telstra Europe is the ability to provide users with fully interactive voice and data products that actually respond to their business needs. Using one, trusted provider for all connectivity, whether voice or data, makes sense for businesses in terms of billing and account management. Dedicated Access Express is not just a perfect fit for business users but it is also a strong addition to our existing portfolio.”
