Telenet deploys Cirpack switches to launch Voice over Broadband services to business users
Largest cable operator in Belgium to deliver seamless ISDN service over broadband local loops using Cirpack’s Class-5 softswitch and gateway products
Cirpack, a Thomson subsidiary leading the market of next generation voice switches for operators’ infrastructures, today announced that Telenet, the largest provider of broadband cable services in Belgium, deployed its Class-5 switch solution to deliver voice over broadband services to business customers in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Delivering a complete set of voice, data and internet services to over 76,000 professional clients under the brand Telenet Solutions, Telenet now has the voice delivery environment to offer new innovative services and strengthen its market position.
“Using Cirpack’s MultiNode softswitch and gateway products, Telenet has launched its “Digital Voice over Broadband” service allowing small and medium businesses to connect their ISDN PBX to a secured DSL line and reduce their telecom bills without compromising quality and features of their phone service. Using state-of-the-art packet telephony technologies, Cirpack MultiNode delivers a complete set of ISDN services over the DSL line so business users do not have to change their installation, phones and habits”, explains Hugo Lemmens, Executive Vice-President Telenet Solutions. “Cirpack MultiNode links to Telenet’s Intelligent Networks to enable advanced services such as Voice VPN for large accounts and converts the broadband voice traffic to legacy protocols so users can seamlessly place and receive calls to the PSTN”.
“Broadband local loops are very efficient alternatives to deliver carrier-grade voice services to business users. Almost all enterprises in Belgium and Luxembourg have ISDN PBX. Signing these customers with a non-disruptive service is a very smart approach by Telenet,” explains Jean-Pierre Dumolard, Cirpack’s Managing Director. “We are very proud to count Telenet as a customer for our next-generation voice switches. Telenet is the leading alternative operator in Belgium with a commitment to innovation. Cirpack is dedicated to helping Telenet succeed in their voice over broadband strategy.”
The Cirpack MultiNode is a carrier-grade telephony platform designed to deliver a full set of voice services to hundreds of thousands of subscribers simultaneously. It comprises a Class-5 and Class-4 softswitch and highly scalable media gateways enabling low cost deployments of toll-grade VoIP and VoATM services on a very large scale and connecting to the PSTN using any flavor of SS7. The Cirpack MultiNode provides carrier-grade reliability, scalability and regulatory features like lawful intercept and number portability to easily migrate any PSTN to Next generation Networks (NGN) and Voice over IP (VoIP).
