BT takes first step into 3G with launch of BT Datazone
BT has announced its first step into 3G with the launch of a combined Wi-Fi, 3G and GPRS tariff, known as BT Datazone
Business customers using a data card, such as the GlobeTrotter QUAD, will be able to access the internet, send and receive emails and download large files at over 7,800 BT Openzone hotspots in the UK and Ireland, or ‘on the move’ through a 3G or GPRS connection. Customers can also use BT Datazone when travelling overseas by using 3G or connecting to one of 30,000 Wi-Fi hotspots that BT Openzone customers can access.
In addition to providing users with the best connection, regardless of the technology they are using, BT Datazone also saves employers time and money with consolidated billing and monthly savings of £11, because they don’t have to purchase individual connectivity packages. The package, which costs just £49, includes 4,000 minutes of Wi-Fi access via BT Openzone which can be used at over 30,000 hotspots across the globe as well as the ability to download up to 75MB of information via 3G or GPRS.

Bringing these technologies together means you no longer have to choose one over the other when deciding how to keep your employees connected. It also has the added benefit of providing companies with tighter cost control over their remote working solutions.
“This is an important step towards meeting BT’s convergence vision, of being able to access all your information regardless of where they are in the world, on your choice of device and over the most suitable network.”
