T-Systems standardizes on BEA WebLogic to underpin new billing and revenue collection system for Deutsche Telekom

BEA WebLogic Server provides open, service-oriented system for developing, integrating and managing infrastructure

BEA Systems, a leader in enterprise infrastructure, has announced that T-Systems has standardized on BEA WebLogic to underpin Deutsche Telekom's multi-national billing and revenue collection system.

Through the implementation of BEA WebLogic Server 8.1, the European provider of IT solutions will support Deutsche Telekom in the development, integration and management of an open, standards-based Service-Oriented Architecture.

"Our evaluation concluded that no other application server matched BEA WebLogic Server for performance," said Jorg Gunther, who is responsible for the project within T-Systems. "We are very pleased with the decision in favor of the BEA application server; with J2EE, BEA Systems follows a standard we can support."

T-Systems has developed a billing and revenue collection platform which bundles data from regional service providers and local business units. It offers customers two products for their international business: T-VPN and Global Call Center. Already eight clients in UK, Spain, France, Japan and other countries are live on the BEA WebLogic Server environment in Germany.

Using BEA WebLogic Server 8.1, all data is compiled and presented to the billing system that evaluates and assesses data according to its importance. The resulting data is exported to the appropriate Deutsche Telekom business units in the required format for issuing invoices. An important aspect of this system is the logical and technical separation of customer and billing data according to subscriber.

"The compelling reasons for choosing BEA WebLogic Server were its flexible support for J2EE, the multi-client capability as well as the outstanding application server performance," explained Mr Gunther.
