European Communications was at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona to discuss the major talking points of the first day with two experts: Jean-Marc Steffan of Cap Gemini and Stéphane Téral of Infonetics.

The day began with GSMA chairman and Telecom Italia CEO Franco Bernabé stating that Investment in 4G networks is “the most important commitment” the mobile community has at the present time; we analyse whether this is really true.

After years of promises, operators revealed that they would commercially launch RCS services for the first time in the next few months, but given the success of brands such as WhatsApp and Skype we ask whether RCS is too little too late.

There also was much talk about the future growth opportunities for mobile operators, but which ones do our panelists think provide the most opportunity?
