Convergys On-line Charging White Paper

Investing in a flexible, low-cost operational model needs to be a high priority for all operators. Competition is intensifying, voice margins are being squeezed, and there is a growing need to implement charging solutions that can both support next-generation services and minimise costs.

An on-line charging strategy can help operators to meet these needs. Firstly, it can rationalise the IT and network IN infrastructure and re-engineer expensive business processes to improve overall operator efficiency. Secondly, it can enable operators to quickly expand their product portfolio, whilst preserving network/service quality. This paper outlines the range of on-line charging solutions available in the market today, the benefits and issues associated with each, and concludes that the optimum solution combines capabilities from both the network engineering and traditional IT-billing systems.
